Pros

Compensation and benefits are fine. Work/life balance is easy to keep. A great bunch of competent colleagues.

Cons

Culture is driven more by sales than by engineering; innovation is not supported enough for a company that aims to be a top tech company. A lot of decisions are based on politics rather than measurements and facts. It's disappointing for an engineer who wants to give their best, and a lot of talents quit because of this. Low level management is often not supportive, just executors of higher level decisions, rarely able to channel the feedback from lower to higher level.

Pros

Good work/life balance, and great office building. Culture is O.K. if you are expecting the american corporate model.

Cons

You are going to have a terrible time working on a legacy product with no future whatsoever. Product side only cares about increasing prices every year, developement roadmap is non-existent. Technical debts are through the roof. No time to fix anything. Its also really hard to get any kind of meaningful salary raise. Takes forever to get anything through HR & management. Recruitement is terrible, we could not find anyone new in the last two years.

It’s disappointing to hear your experience working on some of the LogMeIn products. Our local HR team has been actively involved with leadership and employees to ensure competitive compensation and rewards for all. We recognize it is a very dynamic market. In addition, the Budapest office hired 34 new employees last month (100+ this year so far), so it is worth recognizing that the office is recruiting quite rapidly in fact.

Pros

Location is great and facilities are cool too.

Cons

It is being ran like a huge corporate, everything is moving very slow or moving backward, the opposite of start up spirit, like it used to be. The local management: VP, EMs are not doing anything in order to change it, but they will cut you off if you won't stand the timeline. Directors come and go every few months. You can't win or innovate that way.

LogMeIn has certainly grown rapidly over the last few years, and that growth isn’t always ideal for everyone. We strive to build a company for scale, and a big part of that is acting our size, which might not have the same “start-up” feel from years ago. Your local HRBP would welcome the opportunity to hear more about your concerns, feel free to connect on some of the local matters you address here.
