a paycheck, not a career.

Pros

The pay is the only good thing about this company. If they continue in their current trend, that will change in the next few years as the pay for jobs in the area is rising far faster than at Freudenberg.

Cons

As a production member, you have no value to the management. You are a number, plain and simple. No contribution from any other than the plant manager will be considered. Any mistake you make will be amplified, while anything beneficial will be credited to management.

Pros

Very pristine work atmosphere 40 years ago. Pay was competitive with the competition. Good working conditions until "your turn" came to be ruthlessly released as part of the Peer Lorentzen clandestine rotating door policy for chemists.

Cons

I was lucky to have been warned shortly before release despite having developed a product for which they had intensely sought after for years. I was told of at least 8 chemists, with names, that had been eased out over the then 17 years the company had been in business. The technology level was considerably lower than the technology experience I brought with me to Chem Trend.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review about your experience with Chem-Trend. It's great to see that the working environment and competitive pay and benefits that we are so proud of today were also recognized and now remembered from 40 years ago. While you may not have agreed with all of the decisions that Peer Lorentzen, our founder, made in the past, we are ever in pursuit of an open, positive culture supported by a deep commitment to our values, principles and the development of our employees. We are proud of the roots Peer and his wife Birgit established when they launched Chem-Trend in 1960, beginning with experiments and developments in the kitchen of their home in Howell, Michigan. Fast-forward nearly 60 years later, and Chem-Trend has evolved into a global market leader that is now owned by Freudenberg, and has been named a "Top Workplace" for five years in a row.
