      Big company feel, good benefits - Software Development Manager SAP Employee Review

      Pros

      Technology is evolving rapidly (at least in the Cloud based offerings) which is fun for the development community, the compensation and PTO time is good, and individuals can control their own pace to some degree (work/life balance).

      Cons

      SAP's culture is fairly process intensive, which can be a burden for some. The more we're intertwined with SAP (company was acquired through acquisition) the more siloed our roles are becoming. Some of that is natural in large companies. Technology is moving quickly, but many aspects are controlled and guided by central architecture which doesn't leave a ton of room for flexibility.

      Pros

      The people at SAP are genuinely nice, and the culture is generally supportive. The work-life balance is good to an extent, but when you're busy, you're BUSY. SAP is highly complex so expect to take a year to ramp up.

      Cons

      Only way to get a high salary is if you're hired externally. They do not reward employees who are loyal to the company. Closed opportunities often have to go through the Compensation Exception Committee, creating uncertainty around earnings. Prepare for constant change, whether that's solutions being removed from your sales bag, account shifts, territory realignments, or changing compensation policies. Quotas can be difficult to attain
