Pros

- Culture of freedom and autonomy - Good people to work with

Cons

- All over the place strategy wise - 0 job security. After being brought in to drive revenue ops for a new team, I worked extremely hard to amalgamate myself in the business. My feedback was highly positive and I even got told that probation would be a pass, no issue. 2 weeks before my probation period was due to end (AFTER i had had my successful probation chat), I then randomly got an invite to a meeting with HR, in which I was told the company was restructuring and as I was still in probation period, I was the one to go in the team. My manager actually started crying in the meeting because the situation was so bizarre. What made it worse is that upon joining 6 months prior, I had read reviews like this and brought it up in the interview stage, and was re-assured this was not the case - Literally 0 job security - same thing happened to several colleagues who joined (both before and after me!)

Pros

Smart collaborative colleagues at the lower IC levels.

Cons

Personio is a dying company. The over-complexity of the company's technical systems is comical. Every attempt to simplify seems to lead to more complexity as things get half migrated and left to rot. Engineering leadership seems clueless and unable to present a clear plan-of-action to get things on track. Principal engineers force engineering time to be spent on silly projects that don't move the needle long-term. There is an overall aversion to taking the time to learn deeply about systems being used. Personio feels like a combination of all of the negatives of both a startup and a mature tech company, with none of the positives. The tech is half assed and duct taped together, but still somehow everything moves at a glacial pace. There is a mass shared delusion at the company that an IPO is in reach. No investor is going to buy this company's junk shares on the open market.
