Pros

over last year we finally see good technical decisions and paying attention to app performance, availability and product quality. culture is more transparent about what is working and what not working. before it felt like "gaslighting" when senior leaders would dress up all issues as things going well even when not going well. the new CPTO joined last year, does not shy from hard conversations, not always popular even for some of us who are here for long time and it is more comfortable to keep head in the sand and do nothing. not comfortable but necessarey for business doing well. more trust in decisions. more agile and more product launches in last year, better quality. payroll now on good track and many problems are being fixed, before very low confidence about making it. this is important because big business opportunity. good talent to learn from, some new and some old timers. new performance framework which look ok and more about results but the jury still out if it is going to work. what I like is that managers are held to results more, hands on skills popular again and now we have upward feedback too to hold managers accountable.

Cons

market is more competitive not sure if performance will be rewarded with things other than just ratings more remote than before

Pros

Smart collaborative colleagues at the lower IC levels.

Cons

Personio is a dying company. The over-complexity of the company's technical systems is comical. Every attempt to simplify seems to lead to more complexity as things get half migrated and left to rot. Engineering leadership seems clueless and unable to present a clear plan-of-action to get things on track. Principal engineers force engineering time to be spent on silly projects that don't move the needle long-term. There is an overall aversion to taking the time to learn deeply about systems being used. Personio feels like a combination of all of the negatives of both a startup and a mature tech company, with none of the positives. The tech is half assed and duct taped together, but still somehow everything moves at a glacial pace. There is a mass shared delusion at the company that an IPO is in reach. No investor is going to buy this company's junk shares on the open market.
