Pros

Definitely a great name to add to your resume. You get a lot of responsibility immediately and are surrounded by pretty sharp people. Everyone is very sociable and laid back. And the best part is getting 5 weeks of PTO. You won't get that anywhere else.

Cons

Medical benefits and 401k are average at best. Minimal say in your travel schedule unless you are a mother. If you are in the IT Advisory practice, it's nearly impossible to rotate to another department because everything else is Accounting related. Some managers are extremely anal about hours. KPMG is also the worst when it comes to technology out of all the Big 4. They aren't even on electronic WPs yet. Long way to go for them on that.

Pros

You get to work with an awesome, highly resilient group of local peers in the advisory practice. The KPMG brand still holds value, but the internal team dynamics have become incredibly fractured.

Cons

We have outsourced 80%+ of our Risk Advisory work, leaving onshore seniors with massive gaps in their experience. As a manager, I am stuck doing senior-level work because I typically have only one or zero local seniors or associates on my teams. The best leaders have already resigned because this model prevents actual management and mentoring. Also, it might take you 30+ years to become partner in Risk Advisory, if at all.
