Pros
As a new factory, the Debrecen site can provide lots of challenges for those who like it. The pay is a bit over the average in the region, but lower than in Budapest or Western Hungary. The imported German leaders - aka expats - have a firm but friendly leaderships style, providing a great opportunity for professional growth. Regular business travels to Germany and international workshops also offer tons of learning opportunities. The expats are doing a good job by bringing the BMW values to the Debrecen site.
Cons
Some of the Hungarian department leaders are not fit for a German company culture and create a toxic working environment in their teams. Favouritism, allowing bullying and unfair treatment of older colleagues in these teams are sadly very common. The professional knowledge and expertise of the HR leaders is also questionable. Benefits are still to be developed, as of 2024 July it's only a monthly allowance on SZÉP Kártya, just enough for some canteen lunch, which is not cheap at all. Other companies in the area offer more or less the same, but for a less stressful job.
