Pros

Depending on who is your boss you can be put on nice projects. I worked on streamlining processes in order to be more efficient (aka fire one employee). The finance team is diversified (India, Sri Lanka, Lebanon, Columbia...) but only with emerging and low-cost countries. No Europeans.

Cons

The finance team is very small less than 10 persons to cover the UAE, 5 persons in Saudi Arabia and 1 person for Qatar. So we have very little interaction with the other offices from the region. We only treat expenses of expats (hairdresser, school, petrol) and some of a local employee council (holiday tickets, hotels). Don't expect to work on aircraft financing and industrialisation projects. They are either done in Europe or by white peoples. It also depends who is the regional head of finance, it changes every 5 years. In 2018 he went back to France, since then the head office sent new ones without enabling promotion for local staff. Last one arrived in october last year, but his role was never advertised. Career opportunities are limited to rotation within the team (one person leaves and is replaced by someone else in the team, a new fresh graduate will join at entry level).
