Good day-to-day work, uncertain long-term path - Software Engineer Accenture Employee Review

Pros

No hierarchical structure for Software Engineers. You have a people lead, but their actual purpose is unclear, as there are very limited promotion slots overall. From my personal perspective, the lack of strict reporting lines is actually a big plus: it allows engineers to focus on developing their skills without constant oversight or old-fashioned supervision, which can significantly speed up personal and technical growth. In my role, I was not required to work from the office. However, this varies a lot between projects, as each one handles remote work differently.

Cons

Applying U.S.-centric policies to European countries is a major downside. Career development is currently (2025/2026) a gamble due to the very limited number of available positions and unclear long-term planning. It should be clear to everyone that this company is not a long-term career option: upward promotion is extremely limited, which means you may eventually get stuck at a mediocre salary level.

Pros

There are a lot of pros working for Accenutre. They have great career opportunities, a never ending supply of interesting work, competitive compensation, wonderful benefits, great people, wonderful training programs, a tremendous number of brilliant professionals in their fields ready to help, and great core values.

Cons

This is not an opportunity for those that do not want to work. At Accenture everyone has a load of work to do and often times under very tight customer time lines. It is a challenge that I enjoy but many might find it stressful.
