Still a Great Place to Work Despite Struggles
Pros
ECC is coming back from several years of struggle. The people are still the #1 reason this company is awesome. Other Pros include the health insurance coverage, 401K contribution, Employee Stock Option Plan (ESOP), salary within industry standards (and sometimes above), and a Chairman of the Board/Owner who really cares about his employees. The culture here is more like a family atmosphere than your average construction and environmental firm. Lots of long-term employees (upwards of 25 years). There is a reason people have stayed, or people keep coming back.
Cons
ECC lacks women in leadership positions. There are no female directors (there were in the past) and no women at the Vice President level. I don't think ECC has ever held any women back from success, but there is no plan in place to train, mentor, or promote from within or to hire women externally to come into senior positions within the organization. Would be nice to see them focus on hiring, promoting, and mentoring women leaders.
