Pros

- Recently hired leadership is of top quality and has the right plans to turn around the company for long term success - Good benefits - Good cafeteria

Cons

- highly political. all that matters is keeping everyone happy and in check. results really optional - extremely poor quality Officer level leadership. new C-level has the right vision for the company but other leaders are stale and only care about "What's in it for me" without concern for company's bottom line - if you hate meetings, this place is meetings Mecca! - parking can be a headache during snow. can be long uncovered walk from parking lot - lack of innovation will undoubtedly be the cause of this company's demise - Finance leadership needs a major overhaul - Marketing teams are the best teams to work in - IT is good place to be and you won't have to work much because of poor leadership

Pros

Benefits have historically been above average.

Cons

Once you've passed 10 to 12 years with Discover you may find yourself either overpaid in your managers opinion, under valued or both. From a lack managerial experience Management members fail to demonstrate common sense and fair judgement. They leverage subjective application of the company code of conduct policies, you're guilty and unable to prove innocence, and convey a sense that you somehow manged to benefit by cheating. I've seen this happen to others and could not correlate a true or implied benefit with the event. As I've seen in other reviews I would not bother seeking help from HR. For unknown reasons they appear to defend poor or weak statements given rather than collecting unbiased input from all parties.

Pros

Good benefits, 20 days off to start, medical and dental is priced well.

Cons

Team leaders play favorites / nepotism, people with management experience and great stats and or skills to move up are passed over for brown nosers who suck up to the managers who are unqualified. Team Leaders often seem unaware of the department procedures and don't seem to know how to handle the calls in the department.. HR and the team leaders are all friends so if you have a issue and go to HR don't expect any help from them, in fact its strongly recommended that you don't speak with HR at all, trust me it will do more harm than good. If you suspect any issues in the department you are in, request a transfer to another department right away, overall a terrible atmosphere and non stop calls that are inbound and outbound at the same time. If you are a hard worker and expect to be recognized for that, move on to another company. If you are good at bringing the managers a apple and smiling and saying hi to them everyday, and enjoy being treated as a number and disrespected by incompetent Team Leaders this could be the job for you. If you are sick you will be written up unless you can predict your illness, Discover wants you to call in the day before you are sick, I'm never sick, so this didn't happen to me personally, but yet another inane policy Discover implements here and seen plenty of coworkers who were written up for not being able to predict their illness in time.
