Pros

-Great work life balance -Kind staff and there is a great deal of flexibility but it really depends on your team -Encouraged to take ownership of your project. -Interesting projects but most of the interesting work is done by consultants -Prefers to hire internally -Interns who perform well can get FT jobs -Flexibility on when you want to use your PTO

Cons

-Project and Home Office (HO) staff have different benefits. Only HO/corporate staff are allowed to buy company stocks. -Always comes down to the bottom line. Your work is limited by LOE. -Always aiming to please the client. There is very little push back. -DAI is one of the biggest beltway bandits but still lacks processes and systems like a MEL software, project management software, databases. Projects have to recreate these from scratch. It is a waste of time. The only process and systems they have are related to procurement and finances. -Lack of transparency on pay scales. They will underpay you if they can. -Difficult to switch projects until your current project is sunsetting. -DAI is a middleman which has caused a lot of delays. -Corporate meetings are pointless. Nothing of real substance is shared. -When you start, you get 26 leave days but these include federal holidays.

Pros

A few nice people and got a glimpse into how USAID and development contractors work.

Cons

Restructured three times while I was there and it was chaotic (e.g., no one knew the protocols) Training sessions were poorly done. High turnover among entry level employees because few people wanted to invest in them. Salary hadn't been reviewed for several years and was not competitive
