Pros
Amazing opportunities at entry level - I joined DAI as an Associate right out of grad school and had the most amazing opportunities. I know it depends on your team, but I got to take on amazing technical and operational assignments in 6 countries. Room for growth - I started as an Associate I, and in three years moved up three promotions. I got to do technical work, operations and implementation support, recruitment, business development, compliance; I mean the list goes on. If you’re entry level and willing to roll up your sleeves, the opportunités are there! Amazing systems and processes - I took these for granted when I was there as DAI was my first corporate job in the US, but they’ve really invested in the systems and processes that will make your job easier. Can’t overstate how much of a difference this makes. DAI is an esop, and the financial benefits this brings are amazing. Culture is fantastic - Besides a few bad eggs, which every org has, most of the people I worked with had very little ego, were super freaking smart, and wanted to do the best work they could. Honestly some pretty inspiring people. Fantastic work life balance I would go back to DAI in the blink of an eye if that’s any insight.
Cons
It can be easy to feel siloed in your own little project team if you’re on the project delivery side, but part of this was my own youth/newness to the workplace. If you seek out opportunities with the intention of avoiding being siloed, there’s plenty of ways to get plugged into broader unit and organizational initiatives (esp. on the business development side)
