Pros

Good compensation. Good work life balance. Aggressive hiring means an innovative group of people to work with. CEO has a clear and compelling vision

Cons

Profit often more important than employee wellbeing. Multiple examples of seeing consultants subjected to derogatory, ethical and unlawful language and behaviours by clients, and Capgemini fix the problem by moving people off projects or into different teams entirely. This has resulted in multiple hospitalisations and resignations in the last year. Remaining staff know not to speak up and to not to involve HR. Similarly you are instructed not to score low on NPS surveys

Pros

You get a nice Macbook which you can't use with any client. You can work from home.

Cons

No annual pay rise (not even with inflation), bonuses for senior and above not junior/midlevel. Recruitment at higher than average pay ranges, so new recruits paid substantially more. Senior staff (esp Managing consultant and above) huff their own gas and think they are going through "difficult times" like the rest of us when theyre on 6 digit salaries with 5 digit bonuses. "Leaders" are delusional and shill for AI hype products, while the stock has collapsed ever since AI investment started getting pushed. Structure is designed very purposefully to remove recourse for complaint, your people manager is detached from pay, benefits, and performance which means you need to "schedule a call" with your "family lead" The projects you get are alright, But you realise based on the motivation and competence (or lack of) from your colleagues means you are just rinsing money and not given enough time to push through meaningful change

Pros

Good WLB Strong pipeline of work in public sector (not in FS or retail however) Most people are friendly New office Salaries in line with competitors (although below inflation pay rises the past 2 years)

Cons

A lot of internal politics and favouritism, particularly when it comes to the promotion process and project allocation. Lack of transparency and consistency regarding promotion process. Has resulted in good staff leaving and mediocre staff being retained. Focus on internal contributions means a lot of pointless work is done out of the need to be seen to be doing something. Good internal work has long be taken, so new hires are at a disadvantage. No dedicated bid team, resulting in long hours and unequal workload if you are made to work on one. Bench is not utilised well. Some people sit on it and do nothing whilst those on projects pick up multiple pieces of work. Very different pipeline of work and progression timelines between units. The smaller units have much more accelerated career progression, despite the quality of work being the same (or worse) as their counterparts in the larger units. That is quite demotivating. Lack of accountability at senior levels when things go wrong, often caused by over-delegating work. Lack of female representation C3 and above, not helped by bit of a male culture in places and unchallenged unconscious bias.
