ByteDance has a toxic work culture that's hard to imagine unless you've experienced it firsthand. You push yourself to the limit, working long hours every day — late nights, weekends — and in the end, you might still get blamed and receive a poor performance review. That said, if your team doesn't need to interact with teams based in China or with expats sent from China, it can be a completely different story.

sometimes, we are not compensate enough despite all the hardworks. we have this stack ranking system, hence it'll be impossible for everyone to get a monthly bonus. it gets very demotivating. sometimes, one person has to handle up to 6 projects, but when no appreciation is given despite the hard work, it gets so demotivating to go to work
