Pros

A very talented group of engineers for the most part. Knowledge sharing was good within a group. For a large company, there was still a lot of innovation. There were a lot of opportunities to build up technical skills.

Cons

Too much overtime and work life balance was given lip service. Projects were always under severe time constraints. There was a lot of politics and the quality of managers was inconsistent.

Pros

There are a lot of room for growth and development. There are also a lot of different groups and job opportunities within Broadcom which allow people to try expand their expertise in different areas.

Cons

There are not a lot of Cons, however if it not a 9am-5pm type of job. It requires a lot of hours and dedication.

Pros

Being a large company, the pros will vary depending on which group you are in and how you negotiate when coming in and who your boss is. It is a large stable company and weathered quite nicely the housing crash with lots of cash and laying off only a few percent when other companies were axing up to 15%. Engineering staff are excellent (most have PhDs). If you are an engineer, you should be able to colloborate and gain valuable experience. You will typically work on all the latest tools and processes.

Cons

It's a large company with all the normal downsides so you should expect it. The severity of them will depend to a certain degree with the group you are in and the function that you serve. Try to gain an understanding of the issues before hiring by networking if possible. Hours can sometimes be long, but their infrastructure is expanding, and depending on the group, you may be able to enjoy your weekends much more frequently.
