Pros

Technically rewarding, good pay and benefits

Cons

Very political, no appreciation for good work, quick-to-complain mentality, egoistic and directionless management, no efforts to retain good talent, vacation policy favors only the "buddies-with-boss" employees, lately not enough RSUs, slow promotion cycles, indirect expectation to work late hours/weekends all thru the year. Caution for new employees - make sure you research about the group and the immediate manager before joining. Certain groups have a track record of eccentric managers harassing people eventually leading to massive exodus.

Pros

Great peers, nice facilities, plenty of work to be done, company is poised to gain major market share in the next few years.

Cons

FAR TOO LONG HOURS AND NO FREE TIME--EVEN WHEN OFF WORK!! Corporate Services Management lacks the courage to make the right decisions for their employees. Far too many mangement level tasks are delegated to direct reports, then Managements takes full credit for the work. Too afraid to even ask to increase headcount when warranted. In Corporate Services it is very common for under skilled and underpaid contract labor to be utilized in place of actual hired employees. We are told this is an attempt to keep "head count" percentages low for financial analyst, yet it is really Directors and above keeping their department overhead low, and increasing their bonuses. This is why Broadcom loves our current recession -- it keeps their pool of contract workers full. Corporate Services annual employee evaluations are a farce at best. Directors will actually make numerous edits to your own comments before they are allowed to be submitted! All of this results in overburdened and very dissatisfied "worker bees". Management's attitude is "everyone is replaceable" and will be proud to tell you that...
