BASF SE in Berlin and BASF in Ludwigshafen are not the same. In Berlin we get lower payslips and there is no Weihnachtsgeld or 13th salary. The increase of salary was only 3,25%

Where do I start? First of all, as everyone else also mentioned: low salaries. You will get at least %30 less salary than what you'd get from another company for the same job. Also, the managers of the teams are earning the same as some of the juniors that work for a more paying companies, it's that absurd. Now, paying much less salaries creates whole bunch of other problems: 1. No commitment to work by anyone 2. Very high turnover, thus no culture gets settled 3. Since the talented ones are able to leave quickly, they cannot replace them with the same talent. So loss of talent 4. Due to high turnover, everyone who choose to stay has to cover much more as the replacements are not always there. For instance in one subject area there were 4, 1 left and they did not hire 1 more. So in the end 3 people are doing 4 person's job. Even if they did, the new colleague would require so much time to learn the job. So in the end that 3 would have more job anyways. 5. Because of the number 4, the turnover rate goes even higher :) 6. So less competent people exist in the company as the talented ones are already gone. So the service that is delivered to other BASF sites are decreasing each day. 6. The biggest motto of the hub is to reduce costs. And you feel like there is nothing that they can't do to ensure this, including the employee costs. At first, you could order a monitor to your house as you are mostly working from home. Now they removed this option and you can do it with the flexible work money they pay you, which barely covers a mediocre desk and chair :) Also, the event budget for each team got cancelled last year, for no reason at all. Moving on with other cons that are not fully salary related: - Most of the managers have little to no clue on what the entry level are doing, because the mid-managers (team specialists) also choose to leave most of the time. So the competency on those level also disappear. - There is literally no one to take as a role model in the company, because there are only 1 or 2 people who have been working for more than 5 years in some subject areas. This has a massive negative effect for those who want to develop within company. - The promotion system is literally there to make you stay to get more (still less) money in short period. One can be a senior in 1 year, but they are actually not senior at all. It's just a cover up just to have a better salary, but the increase is hilariously small. - No built-in structure at all, for most of the positions. There are just tasks sometimes, and you have to complete them. No one asks more than that, no one cares if you have worked 2 hours or 20 hours to complete it. It is like we pay you so little and here are the tasks, finish them and take care of your personal lives. This number 9 was my own experience and I've seen bunch of others like that too. But doesn't apply to everyone.
