Pros

Large company, good place to intern as the company's reputation will carry weight within the industry.

Cons

Long term prospects for the industry are questionable. You could end up in a group that may not be there in 5 years or offers no room for advancement. You won't be converted to a full time employee during a downturn. Also, Applied has a tendency to lay off employees to meet Wall Street's expectations even in quarters/ years where they have a net profit.

Pros

Good company if you like to travel. R&D is still pretty intense and one can learn alot during the fast paced environment.

Cons

Personnel turnover is very high. Never fealt secure in jobs due to frequent rumours of layoffs that usually came true.

Pros

This is a large company that tends to pay reasonably. There are many opportunities to move around within the company and do different things.

Cons

Management by the numbers with little respect for employees is the new trend. A very large amount of the business is being moved offshore. Opportunities and satisfaction are contracting.
