+ Over 10,000 patents; industry leader. + brilliant colleagues; very global + strong innovation & customer-focused culture + great use of technology in all aspects of the company including the supporting functions + base and total comp are good + over the past 2 years there has been increased focus on leadership values and management development

Cons

- Demanding environment - must be prepared to work hard; long hours - shutdowns are used to meet financial targets and employees are not always given adequate notice

Cons

I saw my coworker dies! It is true! heart attack! stressful, hard work, 2nd shift, night shift, tool time is expensive; human time is cheap. Semiconductor industry is shifting to Asia, low pay, it is a river of no return. Do you want to compete with low pay competitors? Do you want to work with dangerous chemicals? Applied is the place.

Poorly managed and lagging behind competition; consistent management turmoil and quarterly layoffs; lagging stock price and options; merger with Varian Semiconductor left power strife that is undermining company values and opening company up to more turmoil; greater than average turnover of employees
