Pros

At Amazon, employees have the opportunity to gain vast experience and valuable qualifications that prepare them for market challenges. The dynamic and demanding work culture provides an environment conducive to learning and development.

Cons

The rigid structure of levels within positions can limit employees’ personal and professional development. Often, highly qualified individuals are underutilized, while less qualified ones occupy leadership positions, creating an imbalance that negatively impacts the work environment. Gender representation in leadership positions is scarce, undermining diversity and inclusion in the company. Employees at lower levels face challenges in career growth and lack significant representation, especially those below level L4, also experiencing limitations in their power of influence and participation in important decisions. Additionally, the lack of individual growth plans, with HR often failing to collaborate with managers to create clear paths for employees’ personal development, coupled with the leadership’s encouragement to seek other job opportunities, can lead to stagnation and lack of motivation among employees, who feel discouraged to remain in the company and opt to seek opportunities elsewhere.
