Pros

I’ve worked at McKinsey, FTI and Alix. These guys take the best care of their employees and have the best benefits/compensation. Also, there’s more of a team atmosphere since it’s not an up or out culture. I really love it here. They do small things, like pay $500 for extra utilities if you are spending more because of COVID, give paid time off to vote & buy you drinks for a virtual happy hour. Definitely the best consulting firm from my perspective.

Cons

You own your destiny here. There is no guidance, there’s no plan. It’s your plan. You execute or you don’t. Hard stop...and that’s tough.

Pros

Highly valuable experience and skill set. Projects cuts right to the heart of the matter and one really learns how to 80-20 and make decision under uncertainty. Furthermore the continuing flat economic growth in US and AlisPartner's focus as tactical cost reduction specialist bode for good exit strategies.

Cons

Culture is very sharp elbowed. This is not a place for the thin-skinned. It is a sink-or-swim environment with minimal support or training. Make sure you have your consulting down solid before joining AlixPartners.

Pros

Compensation and benefits are probably the best in the consulting world. It is hard to imagine something better. Base salary is a tad lower than other consulting firms, but the comp structure is variable, so when you put in those long hours on a project, you're rewarded immediately. This is not discretionary, there is a formula for that. Benefits are fully covered by the firm. Work hours are flexible and they are respectful of needed/booked time off.

Cons

Career advancement is way slower than in other firms. You could be a partner at other firm and still be a VP/manager leve al AlixPartners. Bonuses and promotions are huge black boxes: communication on how they are calculated is non existant.
