A great firm for appearances

Pros

Interesting projects. Flexible with expenses and travel decisions.Provides a good laptop and decent equipment from day one. In the restructuring team, the firm wins solid cases based on its longstanding reputation. Plenty of experienced consultants with deep domain knowledge.

Cons

Unfortunately, the internal politics are relentless and often overshadow the actual work. There’s been constant reshuffling of org charts, which creates confusion and instability. On top of that, longstanding diversity and inclusion issues remain unaddressed in several areas, despite the firm’s claims to the contrary. It often feels like style over substance when it comes to culture and leadership.

Pros

There are hard-working individuals here who are genuinely trying to make the best of an increasingly joyless situation. If you're new to consulting, you'll learn a lot mostly by fire, not by support. Few perks/benefits are awesome

Cons

Zero consideration for work-life balance you're expected to be on the road 100% of the time. Transparency from leadership? The compensation process is shrouded in mystery and politics, like some archaic ritual you’re not allowed to question. Management flips between extremes: you either get a world-class leader or someone whose main skill is dodging accountability. Let’s be real Alixpartners lost its identity the moment it abandoned restructuring. That used to be its heart. Now? It’s just another average firm pretending to be something special, clinging to old prestige that no longer exists. And worst of all Honest Feedback is feared. Constructive criticism is treated like rebellion. There's a culture of avoidance and image-management rather than growth and truth.

Pros

Few folks /peers, they were fantastic. The perks and benefits were also fine, and I was fine satisfied with my salary. Most of the time, I was travelling for work to meet clients all around the globe. It was draining at times, but it was also good because you get to travel. In my humble opinion, the CEO was one of the best I have ever seen, but now it has changed to co-CEOs and so far, they are okay.

Cons

To be very, very honest, boss, the management above me was not up to the mark. They seemed nice initially, but were completely out of touch with the actual work we were doing. I've never worked at a place where people were so quick to point fingers because everyone was so scared of making even a small mistake. The stress here is simply not worth it. Nothing seems to run smoothly.
