Pros

High impact work with senior clients

Cons

Poor leadership, dont live up to core values, very inconsistent experience depending on the team you work with. Pay is not competitive once you've been in the company for a few years. Nearly impossible to get promoted to Managing Director.

Pros

People are hard-working and really want to be successful. They'll go the extra mile for you and are willing to answer questions. The compensation pool is generally very fair and the firm often provides large bonuses at year-end.

Cons

Work-life balance can be tough to manage at the firm. People are often working longer hours due to staffing issues, amount of work, high priority projects, etc. For some reason, we've centralized support functions despite being a global firm. This often leads to support staff receiving questions in the middle of the night from overseas colleagues. This often leads to burnout/turnover of staff. The hiring and recruiting process is often too long and the assessment process can be a barrier that causes positions to be open longer than necessary. The firm struggles with defining a career plan for newer staff members. It often preaches your career should be viewed as entrepreneurship but fails to provide solid direction on how to build a career path for individuals.

Pros

Excellent salary, concentrated industry expertise.

Cons

A vicious office culture that valued nothing except consultant revenue. Because support services are viewed as third-class citizens on a good day, leaders of those units were constantly paranoid about justifying their own existence to top management and took it out on their teams. A cruel and joyless office culture.

Thank you for your feedback and candor. Through a number of large firmwide efforts we have made significant progress toward creating a professional, inclusive environment where employees across all of our communities are valued and treated with personal respect. As AlixPartners has grown over the years, we have shifted our culture from being perhaps almost solely focused on our clients to one that is also people centric — with equal focus internally on our people and externally on our clients. While we are proud of where we are today, we are always striving to improve and would welcome a discussion on your personal experience and how we can further progress. Please feel free to reach out to me in confidence.” – Carrie Holtz, People Business Partner - Corporate Services
