Pros

Accenture has a great work-life balance. Employees are awarded 25 days of PTO per year and are allowed to roll-over up to 30 unused days per year. Senior management encourages employees to take advantage of paid time off, especially during the summer and holidays. Accenture also operates across many industries and geographies and its clients are some of the top companies in the world. This provides Accenture's employees with a wide range of opportunities. The size of Accenture and the scale of some of it's projects also allow for the opportunity to manage many people, which is not possible at some smaller consultancies.

Cons

Although Accenture offers many opportunities for professional growth, finding and taking advantage of those opportunities can be challenging. Projects at Accenture tend to be on the longer side. They can be up to a year or more. This makes getting the timing right to pursue an opportunity tricky. Also, employees can get pushback when trying to leave a current client, even between projects, as clients prefer consultants that are familiar with their business and senior management wants appease the client. Compensation at Accenture is also below the industry average and bonuses are even worse (~3 to 14% depending on rating). Also, with performance ratings only occurring once a year there can be a long time between promotions, especially since there are often others with the same qualifications but more seniority awaiting promotion. In addition, raises between promotions are quite small at around 5 to 8% for most and 10% for the top performers. Another downside is that consultants "live" at the client (M-F for local resources and M-Th for out of town). This is wonderful for Accenture as it reduces their cost of maintaining office space for employees but diminishes the sense of community within local offices and can result in longer commutes for local consultants. Local employees mainly choose to live close to their home office but can end up commuting up to an hour or more each way on a local project located outside of the city.

Pros

Great name, Good as a starting job for a recent graduate

Cons

Long hours, highly political environment, the yearly review process can seem biased. Standing out as a great employee can be difficult when you spend all your time at client locations.

Pros

Accenture has a culture of empowerment - what I like most about the company. People are encouraged to be the best they can be. Most employees are very professional, and live the core values of integrity and respect for the individual. There is open communication and knowledge sharing, and everyone is encouraged to voice out their ideas. People are recognized and valued for their contributions. Plus you get to work with really good, talented, and smart people. A company that I really looked forward going to everyday. During my more than 3 years stay in the company, I've worked with some of the best leaders and people I've ever worked with in my IT career. Definitely learned a LOT from them. Definitely a great place to work (for the right people, I guess). A company I may consider working for again in the future :)

Cons

The workload and deadlines are a bit demanding so you have to be really good at managing your time to be able to maintain work/life balance. But you are growing and learning a lot in exchange, so not really bad at all. The compensation is not very market-competitive, but the training you'll get is definitely one of the best ;)
