Pros

The people at Accenture are driven, young and fun. Normally, you work in diverse environments; however, there are a few instances with the "old boys' club" mentality. I loved being surrounded by leadership who were supportive and looked out for your best interests. This aspect is, of course, hit or miss. If you find work that you like, it is not bad working long hours early in your career. You will excel if you are smart and dedicated. The company is always evolving to make processes better. Everyone receives a 15% discount on the stock, which is a great aspect.

Cons

Work / Life Balance is hard to maintain if you want to be rated well, even if leadership supports it. It is difficult to find local projects with a role that fits. Much of the time people are promoted based on their relationship with senior leadership, rather than theire performance. Leadership often favors certain people, those are the people who are rated the best. I think that happens at many companies though. Good oppurtunities are difficult to find locally. This becomes almost critical if you are a woman with children. There are areas outside of consulting that may fit, but they are not as fulfilling to me.

Pros

good on your resume, good experience builder. you get exposure to many companies in many industries with many problems that accenture comes in to help with. however, despite the potential positive aspects of this, the roles are very ambiguous at times. so now i'll go to the con's section.

Cons

very beurocratic, and you get lost in procedures for the simplest things. lots of "meetings" that go nowhere and it seems that sometimes, it's almost as if everyone is pretending to do something but really nothing is being done. okay, left of at the pro's, so sometimes because of all the ambiguity you may lose sight of your primary goals. simply because there are so many pointless procedures that must be followed even to do the simplest thing.

Pros

Money - salaries are good but you'll earn every penny. Level of expertise - it is THE place of best practice. They have great systems & processes - just poor people skills to train them. Networking - a must have skill to get anything done here. Knowledge is so widly spread due to the size and high turnover of staff.

Cons

Poor feedback on individual performance. You can be marked down very easily if you change roles at the wrong time and/or your peers are performing badly. Even the brightest conifer may get lost amongst the dad wood there! They also have this once yearly, very formalised, review of you conducted by management behind closed doors. And if you speak of any of your rewards outside your formal review session - you get an instant formal discipline Too much consulting to little decision making! Your manager will always want to consult a minimum of about 3 other more senior managers before deciding on anything!
