The technology culture at 3M across a large number of disciplines is amazingly strong from material science to software. Their diverse product portfolio and continuous invention guarantees they will be around for the long haul.

Cons

It can take a while to learn how to work effectively in this diverse, heavily-matrixed organization. The company is currently working on a massive Business Transformation project to standardize processes.
