All the interviewers asked questions that solicited qualitative answers. The first two interviewers liked my opinions. The last two interviewers--remember only one person bothered to show up when I flew into Washington DC. The other interviewer, a Deloitte Federal partner, I telephone from Washington DC. I guess the HR secretary figured I couldn't have done that from any other location. I've had more technical questions asked of me by teenage gamers.

If your manager gives you 2 assignments to do and you have to submit them at the same time, this means you have to visit two clients at the same time, what would you do?
How would you build a team based on the given task and which skillset would you include?
Why do you want to move to internal services after a successful career in Consulting? (the subtext here is: why are you moving to a non-revenue generating area? can't you meet your metrics goals? can't cut the rigor of being in a revenue-generating business line?)
Tell me about yourself. Why accounting? Why UMass?
Introduction about myself About projects that I had done in my academics

There were three questions related to M&A in Pharma - Market opportunity of targets, recommendations on what to buy and what to do about the current portfolio of drugs. I was given a short brief, a slide pack of 15 slides (full disclosure - 5 were title slides, the other 10 were pretty densely populated with data. Not a Word document but not far off in some cases) and 3 questions to answer. It felt less like a test of how you thought and more a test of whether you could find the right piece of information buried in a mass of data under the pressure of time. Although I accept that finding data is an important aspect of consulting it is generally more about asking the right questions to get you there quickly and less about reading over reams of data and picking the right piece.
