'Why were you so late today?' they asked twice, then carried on passive aggressively. I have 7 years recruiting experience, so I understand the need for being prompt. The truth is I arrived 3 minutes late to their WeWork location across from South Station. After waiting in line downstairs to get through security, then waiting in line in their social/meeting area/floor, then them calling to have Albert's assistant come down to greet me and put me in a meeting room, all told, Albert and I ended up sitting down around 17 minutes late. We made comments along the lines of possibly needing to end early, because of other rooms being booked. This struck me as odd because at most there were 2 of the 10+ small glass offices in use. He put on quite a bit of pressure out the gate regarding my promptness or lack thereof. I should have arrived earlier, and I failed to explain the truth of why I did NOT arrive much earlier because I felt so uncomfortable the reason for my being late got MUCH worse. I am a veteran with PTSD, and I have occasional anxiety/panic attacks where I feel a total loss of control and lock up. I sat outside the building and paced outside his building for over 35 minutes actually, I was having so much trouble gathering myself for the interview. I would have told Albert at the time had he not been so dismissive, and had he not talked down to me multiple times regarding my being tardy. I did explain my anxiety attack caused me being late as well as my coming off as not being myself in an email to both Albert and the nice screener (Kristina) hours after my interview. I explained the circumstances of being a veteran, and that this does not often happen. Minutes later I was told it wasn't going to work out. Overlall I am sure SEP has great clients, and some sharp people working there for sure. My individual experience was that Albert has difficulty connecting with people. He is more militant and difficult to engage with than many of the military officers I have come across. He comes off more as passively considerate, but holds his position as being an extremely important validation for himself, and therefore in my case at least, we lacked any real interpersonal connection at all, I felt more like he was speaking at me.
