Would you have an example on when you lived (bp values and beliefs)? What's the main differences between Li-ion and Na-ion batteries? How would you start an external collaboration opportunity? Where could you look to start collaborations and networking? Can you describe the properties of different batteries chemistry and the best use case? Do you have any experience with safety regulations?

The hiring manager asked me about double-layer capacitor and lithium plating modeling. Two things here: (1) He confused a Helmholtz capacitor with a Stern model and (2) No one models a capacitor for a battery model. Some people think because they've done a PhD that they actually know what they are talking about I also had one of the interviewers ask me about impedance modeling. For example, she had questions about what parameters that you'd need to model the impedance response of a lithium-ion cell. She did not know what she was talking about, almost like she was trying to catch me making up things. In fact, I have two major publications on impedance in the Journal of the Electrochemical Society. My experience is that the organization is full of people who think that they know things that they actually don't know. I am so glad I took another opportunity. On a side note, the salary range for a PhD battery modeler with more than 2 years of experience is $150K to $175K.
