It was not easy to digest the rejection after a lengthy successful interview process by saying the position was filled with an internal hire. They’re degrading their Brand Name and they're not trustworthy. When I read more negative reviews in Glassdoor, I was a little hesitant to consider this job opportunity but I thought it may go well. Finally, I am also sharing the pathetic experience with Zalando. I applied for this position through LinkedIn from India. My Application process was a bit different than their usual process. Entire process took more than a month. 1) Recruiter Intro Round ~ 30 Mins 2) Preliminary Technical Interview ~ 1 hour 3) Take Home Technical Assessment ~ 7 Days 4) Final HR Interview ~ 30 Mins 5) Technical Interview with Entire Team ~ 2 Hours 6) Engineering Manager Interview ~ 30 Mins They concluded that they will check on some topics on the process and update within one or two days. But, they kept me waiting for 2 weeks and finally sent a Rejection Email saying "we regret to inform you that we will not be moving further with your candidacy for this role. The reason being that we have filled the position with an internal hire". Waste of Time! Waste of Time! Waste of Time! What is the point of having this lengthy interview process if they have option to fill with internal hire? Most irritating part was that I am receiving another Interview call on the next day. Really? Am I a joke to you? I am completely ok for the rejection if it was communicated immediately after final interview. But, 1) They were discussing that they’re going to roll out the offer on that day itself. Since, I have very short notice period, they said they wants some time to check some topics on logistics and on boarding. 2) They said that you join earlier and you can start working from India for time being till all the immigration works done. 3) They hold me on wait for 2 weeks; meanwhile I sensed that it will be rejection. They were very responsive and supportive during the entire process; I really liked the entire team and the technologies, business challenges were too good. I was mentally prepared for joining the team. Giving this much hope to me and finally sending rejection was unfair to me. Zalando, Please stop wasting applicant’s time.
