I was sent an email by a tiktok recruiter in Singapore. She sent the email a couple of days after I was told that they weren't moving forward with another interview of mine. The reason cited for the previous one was that of not matching the job profile, however they wanted to keep my resume for future openings.
So when the latest recruiter reached out, I thought it was for a genuine interview. However it wasn't. She started by asking 'how many times did you interview at tiktok and why were you rejected'? When I told her the reason, she stated 'no, you were rejected as you weren't a' culture fit''. She then continues to ask stuff like' what's your current job level and salary' and that 'she has interviewed many fro. My current company' and ends by asking 'why do you even want to apply to tiktok from your current company'? Oops.. Sorry I didn't know that tiktoks HRs themselves didn't want others from more established Techs to apply.
My previous experience where I wasn't selected was much better as the HR in that interview round was learned enough. This, however was disastrous. Not that I feel bad about not getting an interview... But it surely doesn't leave a good taste in the mouth when you have high school graduate HRs talk senseless stuff to people who have spent some time in the industry.
Train your HRs. Employees from top techs don't just change only for a better package. We expect more challenges in a growing org. Please hire some quality HRs (I did interact with a few HRs who had previous tech company experiences at tiktok who were very professional).
