The most absurd interview that I've ever had. Interviewed by one teammate but not even a team leader/manager, who really doesn’t speak English. He said everything to me in Mandarin but required me to answer some of them in English, was really unnatural and unprofessional. Checking the background on LinkedIn, he got less experience in the field compare to me. I applied both Seller support and BD role, HR rejected me of BD role and invited me to attend this interview of Seller support role. However during the whole interview, the interviewer kept asking me question about BD role, like "If we ask you to recruit seller in UK, which kind of people would you approach?why?" At the end of the interview, he said they actually wanted me to do seller recruitment but not seller support, which makes sense. but why they rejected me of BD role at the very beginning was the question.
The most ridiculous thing was that the interviewer asked me my opinion on whether XX project was feasible in the UK. I said to him, what about the strategic perspective of the company, do you think this is feasible? He said we don't know, we just want to do an experiment. I later asked some of my friends who work in TikTok's headquarters in Beijing, and they told me that many of the overseas positions opened by the company are not really about hiring, they just need to collect some information about the overseas market for free, so they ask some experienced interviewees for information through interviews. This is very unfair and a waste of our time.
