The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Target in Oct 2011
Interview
After posting my resume online, I was contacted via email about 3-4 days later. The recruiter wanted to speak with me on the phone and was very flexible with my work hours. We spoke for about 10 mins and I was asked to go for an interview about 2 weeks later. This all came on a Friday right before I was scheduled to go on a weeks vacation. The recruiter was very cool about me taking a very extra days to complete my online application. While I was on a vacation I had received a voicemail from Target asking if I could interview early, but unfortunately I was still on vacation. So I kept my original appointment and had three back-to-back interviews in the same day, which lasted a total of about 90 minutes. The first with a store lead, the second with the recruiter and another employee, and the third with 2 of their district managers. Each interview consisted of situational questions in which I was asked to describe scenarios I had actually had experience with. After the third interview, the district managers advised me I would get a call within 7-10 days (usually sooner than that) and if they decide to move forward, I will get a call from HR for a final phone interview. It has only been 3 days, so I am still waiting for the news (hopefully good)!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Describe a time you had to get input from your co-workers and confront your managers with a problem.
I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Target (San Jose, CA) in Mar 2009
Interview
Because I interviewed on campus as part of my school's career expo event, I had to do three interviews total. Two on campus, one at their headquarters.
The first two interviews were basically behavioral questions: how well do you work in teams? Describe a time when you had to solve a problem while working with team members, how do you confront conflicts?
Questions of that nature that pertain specifically with running a Target store efficiently. The third interview at their headquarters are more specific to your skills in management.
Such questions will range from behavioral to specific examples and scenarios in which you have to give reasons why you chose a specific action.
This allows the recruiter and the HR from headquarters to assess your leadership capabilities.
