Interview
I applied online at the Target website and got a call a few days later. I was surprised I got a call back because I applied online before a few times and never got a call. They scheduled me for a phone interview with HR and she asked questions that were on this website. This website is extremely helpful! She scheduled me for a one on one interview a couple days later. At the one on one interview you first have to fill out a questionnaire, and after you have to watch a short video. All were situational questions. Phone interview questions: 1.) Why do you want to work at Target? 2.) What are your strengths and weaknesses? 3.) Describe a time you had to work as a team 4.) Describe a time you had multiple projects due 5.) Describe a time you had amazing customer service and what was the outcome? One on one interview: They asked some of the same questions. 1.) Why do you want to work at Target? 2.) What did you learn from the video? 3.) What are your strengths and weaknesses? 4.) Do you have any experience in the position you're applying for? 5.) Describe a time you made a mistake and what was the outcome? 6.) If you're ringing up an item that's $19.99 but the customer says it's $17.99 what would you do? 7.) A woman is looking for shoes in her size and there's none on the floor, what would you do? How would you talk to the customer?
I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Target (Davis, CA) in Oct 2013
Interview
I applied online and was called back 2 days after for a phone interview that same day. Most of the questions were asked there. "Tell me about yourself, why do you want to work at target, what are your greatest strengths/ weaknesses, tell me about a time you did something that someone said you excelled at, etc." I think it was 5 personal questions, and 5 situation questions. Then she scheduled me for an in-person interview the same week. I came in, did a 20 question assessment, and then had a 1 on 1 interview. He asked me to tell me about myself, why I want to work at target, tell me about a time I made a mistake, and then the two questions about what you would do if a lady and a child come looking in the store for a shoe and it's not there, and what would you do if something was ringing up 19.99 but the customer said its 15.99. He helped me answer the questions, which was really nice. After I gave my answer, he would basically ask " Would you help her look for similar shoes so you don't lose her business? and "If it was a busy work day, would you take the customer's word for it? (the answer is no, always check). That was it for the in person interview. He said he was done and he would be right back to check if they had everything they needed, and the HR lady came in and said congrats I got the job. Whole process only took 30 minutes.
