If you do apply, set very low expectations for communication and be prepared for an extremely drawn-out process. I wish I'd known this going in.
I was contacted by a recruiter in July 2024 who asked if I was interested in a role. After a 20-minute phone screen where I apparently matched all their requirements (experience, seniority, etc.), I was asked to apply online. I did so immediately on July 17th, expecting a reasonably efficient process.
Timeline:
July 17: Applied online
Sept 2 (~45 days later): Finally received a call (Stockholm) to schedule an interview for Sept 5th
Same day: Meeting rescheduled to Sept 22nd (another 20 days out)
Sept 22: Meeting rescheduled again to Sept 23rd
Sept 23: Interview conducted, which I felt went well, they were not rigid people, they gave me tips when needed.
Late November (~2 months later): Received email that the position had been withdrawn
Throughout this process, I reached out to the hiring manager on LinkedIn for updates, no response.
Bottom line: Nearly 5 months from initial contact to rejection, with constant rescheduling and zero communication about timeline or status. I understand things happen, but this level of disorganization and disrespect for candidates' time is concerning.
