      Software Developer Interview

      Mar 3, 2019
      Anonymous employee
      Bengaluru
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at SAP (Bengaluru) in Mar 2016

      Interview

The recruitment process is somewhat as below. Step 1: The candidate needs to apply on portal. Step 2: Once shortlisted, written test link is shared with the candidate. The written test is usually of 90 minutes, with five different sections, namely: Analytics Guesstimates Psychometric Programming 1 Programming 2 Step 3: After completion of the test, it takes about 3 days for the results to be processed. Step 4: Once you clear the written round, you are called for interviews within next 15 days. Step 5: There are four interview rounds, which goes somewhat like this. Remember, every round has eliminations. Technical Interview 1: The candidate is asked questions on almost every subject he/she covers during graduation/post-graduation. Besides, be ready for some brainstorming puzzles and their solutions. The interview is generally a one-to-one one with a 6+ years experienced professional and goes on for about 1.5 hours. Technical Interview 2: Once you clear the first technical interview, the recruiters get to know the domains you are strong at. In the second round, therefore you need to face experts in those particular domains.Expect pure technical questions, and yes, you will be asked to code. This interview once again goes for about 1.5 hours. Management Interview: If you are through with both the technical interviews, now it’s time for the candidate to meet a management professional. Usually VPs and MDs appear as interviewers. Here, they check your common sense, communication, stress handling, strategy planning and other soft skills. Number of technical questions is usually less in this round, but sometimes, it becomes the most difficult one due to the reasoning questions. Generally, this interview goes for an hour. HR Interview: This is your last hurdle. Here too, sometimes technical questions are asked. But the basic focus remains on your confidence, consistency, personality and potential. This is usually a panel interview and goes for about an hour. Step 6: Once your HR interview is done, you need to fill up a form, submit it and leave for the day. Step 7: If you are selected, you will get a mail within next 48 hours. Followed by that mail, you will get several other mails with CTC discussion, resume submission, MDS (Master Data Sheet) submission, background verification and on-boarding.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at SAP (Brünn) in Jun 2026

      Interview

3 rounds of interviews: quick prescreening call with HR, on-site meeting with the manager, and a tech call with the lead engineer. Prescreening was as usual. On the same day, I got a call from the manager and planned a second round for the next workday. The second round was the most important. First quick introduction, then easy puzzle, then 15 min of technical questions (OOP, basic programming principles, Relational DBs, etc) - pretty easy, nothing too deep. Then, about 40 minutes talk about previous experience, position, hobbies, and other basic topics. Very pleasant and friendly, good atmosphere. The third round was very quick - no live coding, a couple of architectural questions, static code analysis, and how to improve it (N+1 problem), SQL questions, overall around 10-15 minutes. Received an offer a couple of days after. The whole process was clean, friendly, and fast at every level.

      Question 1

How would you add a new PK to a table with 1 million entries? What is OOP? Explain polymorphism. What is relational DB? What is an index?
