Everyone were polite and everything, but they make their decision based on some ephemeral "values" that have no bearing on actual performance and that they try to discover during a 30-60 minutes behavioral interview (which does not work, according to multiple studies, for example by Daniel Kahneman).
I worked for much bigger companies pretty successfully for more than a decade, but in Personio apparently I failed a behavioral interview for some reason which they did not disclose.
The core problem of behavioral interviews is that it is impossible to determine if a candidate is a good fit in such a limited time (30-60 minute call), and that interviewers are subject to cognitive biases that allow subjective preferences to overshadow objective assessments, which means that less qualified candidates can be hired on the basis of "good" interviews (which may mean nothing more than being able to rapidly establish a personal connection with their interviewer), while more qualified candidates are rejected on the basis of "bad" ones simply because they couldn't answer some ephemeral questions the way their interviewers expected.
If you are searching for a company to grow in as a software engineer, I would say that Personio is not the best choice. You will find some friendly people here, but apparently not the most qualified for the job.

They reached out through LinkedIn. I had the following steps:
1. Phone screen with a recruiter
2. Behavioral/Technical intervieww with the Hiring Manager (Eng. Manager from the same domain)
3. Home assignment coding challenge
4. Review of the home assignment with 2 engineers
5. Interview with PM and Senior EM from the same domain
6. Values interview with an Ambassador employee
7. Bar raising with co-founder (in my case the CTO)
