The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at MathWorks (Neu-Delhi)
Interview
It started with me applying for the job on mathworks career site.
The manager contacted me and we had a telephonic interview . Later I went in to thier campus for a face to face which lasted for an hour.
This was screening process.
After this I was asked to prepare a presentation covering my skills, projects ..etc.
Was given sufficient time for preparation and also was given help from the hiring manager in getting the presentation to expected standards.
Later on I had a full day interview at campus, with 4 rounds of technical interview and presentation. Later also had a detailed hr round.
They took 2 days to get back to me and everyone from the team were very prompt.
This is a very good hiring experience for me, and both the manager and HR were very professional.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
mostly technical questions covering basics and some logical puzzles.. also was asked to design a software for the given requirement.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at MathWorks (Natick, MA) in Jan 2018
Interview
A MathWorks submitted employee referral. Then the hiring manager called me and asked a few technical questions. It was followed by a programming challenge which I had two days to solve. It was a mildly difficult. Once I emailed the solution back. Another engineer called me and asked me a few technical questions.
Then a recruiter called me and told me they were going to move me to an onsite interview. Before the interview, I was asked to put together some slides to discuss a previous project. The hiring manager reviewed the slides and gave his comments. All communication was via email.
At the onsite interview, I first presented the slides to a group of about 10 engineers. It was then followed by five interviews, each of which was about 45 minutes. Most the interviews were mostly technical. I felt reasonably challenged.
After the onsite interview, I was told that they were going to do reference and background check. In another week, I was offered the job. They were willing to wait until my interviews with other companies were finished. Very kind of them. Sadly, I did not accept the offer.
My experience of MathWorks' interview process is very positive. They were moving extremely fast. I feel the interview process was a little too long, including two phone interviews, one programming challenge, and slides for presentation. But after all these activities, I felt that I got to know this company very well.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at MathWorks (Framingham, MA) in Jun 2014
Interview
Drawn-out interview process with two on-site interviews. Questions were very easy for the most part. They asked repeatedly about multi-threaded programming apparently fishing for some magic answer; I couldn't tell what they wanted to hear. They demanded I give a technical presentation and kept pressuring me to present material from my current job, which of course is proprietary.
After slogging through a long and repetitive interview process they chose not to extend an offer, which was probably lucky for me. But they never bothered to notify me of the decision after taking a day and a half of my time plus making me give a presentation! This is incredibly insulting. How hard is it to write a two-line email saying "thank you for your time and interest, we've decided to focus on other candidates?"
