I was first asked to talk about my own background and my present line of work. I was asked to describe problems I have faced during PhD and how I dealt with them. I was then asked standard questions like if the timeline for internship suits me etc etc. I was asked if I have any question and then I asked him a few about the work which he liked. I showed him even though I haven't done SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope), I knew the fundamentals of it. The internship required someone with previous experience of SEM. So although the interview was good, they probably found someone who is more experienced with SEM.
