The interview process at HubSpot was structured into three main stages:
Initial Screening & Take-Home Assessment
The process began with a resume screening, followed by a take-home assignment. The assignment involved fetching data from API endpoints, processing it using appropriate data structures, and posting the output. It could be completed in any programming language and had a time limit of three hours. The recruiter contacted me two days after submitting the assessment.
Behavioral Interview with Recruiter (30 minutes)
The behavioral round focused on questions such as receiving and giving feedback, collaborating with peers from diverse backgrounds, motivation for applying to HubSpot, long-term career goals (e.g., where I see myself in five years), and discussions around logistics and compensation.
Final Interviews – Technical Rounds
The final stage consisted of two one-hour coding interviews. These focused on:
Solving LeetCode-style problems (mostly easy to medium difficulty)
Frontend JavaScript concepts including memoization, closures, console.log behaviors, rest/spread parameters, and the prototype
I prepared for these rounds by practicing on LeetCode and found a HubSpot-specific coach through Prepfully. The coaching sessions helped me refine how to articulate my thought process during technical interviews and were incredibly helpful overall.
