2) Online Technical Screen
3) Onsite technical interview
Hubspot seems like an outstanding company. So great that I had no problem traveling 6 hours for the onsite interview. After the interview I thought it went well. The next day they got back to me telling me that I did not receive the job because I did not have enough experience building scalable web software. This is very annoying because this is copied and pasted from the application that filled out when I applied:
--------------
HubSpot judges candidates on potential, not a list of skills. That being said, we're paying attention if you have experience:
Building dynamic web applications
Designing RESTful APIs and designing database and storage strategies
Experience with a dynamic and functional language as well as a systems or staticly typed language
Working in a Linux or OSX environment, familiarity with server administration and tools
--------------
I have all of the following and not once did they mention that they had strict criteria for someone who had scalable software experience. In fact, they say that they judge candidates on potential and not a list of skills! This hypocrisy cost me a day of traveling and over $300 in travel costs.
