First contact was by an internal recruiter. We had a 15 min conversation where they asked about my background, projects, current role; basic first phone call stuff. Second round was a coding exercise that is timed, but not live / on video. You basically get asked to hit an API endpoint, transform some data, send it to another endpoint. This is a timed exercise. When you successfully send it back, you get an email congratulating you on successfully doing the thing and they will be in contact about next steps.
Unfortunately, that was the end of the road. I was officially ghosted. I followed up the next day, asking how long things usually take and when could I expect to hear back. End of day, nothing. Days later, nothing. Weeks later, nothing. No form letter saying I didn't make it. No automated message saying the process is over, thanks for applying.
If this gets to HR: You need to understand that you are literally harming people by not responding to them. Every time that is done it chips away at them a little bit. Every time a recruiter ignores someone seeking a job, it hardens them as well. We're all human beings. It's time you recognized it.
