I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Dublin, Dublin) in Nov 2017
Interview
First, there was a short call with a recruiter. Nothing unusual: things about projects I had done were asked.
Then, there was a "coding challenge": I had 3 hours to complete it. I took a little bit more than 2 hours.
The last step was a 2h video interview with two different software engineers. System design, coding and other things were tested during this interview. I had lots of time to ask questions about the company.
The interview was a great opportunity to gain some insight into the company. Everyone I talked to was nice.
Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review - in spite of the outcome, I'm glad you had positive interactions with everyone in the process and you felt like you were able to discover as much about HubSpot as we were able to about you. Best wishes in your search and the next step in your career! -Becky
I applied online. I interviewed at HubSpot in Oct 2017
Interview
I applied online First round is a 2h online coding challenge. This is the same as described by everyone else. I passed it within 2 hours. In the next day, I scheduled a phone interview. I was told they have no openings before the second round.
Save your time - do not bother interviewing with this company.
After completing their 3 hour coding challenge, I received a phone screen with a recruiter. I emailed the recruiter asking if there would be any technical questions and never received a response. The day of the phone screen (4 hours before my interview), I receive an automated message letting me know they have finished hiring.
For a company that had a really cool coding challenge and claims to care about transparency, this was disappointing to say the least.
Sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the transparency of your process and the proximity of the decline to your phone screen--unfortunately our hiring cadence can change for specific roles, but we try whenever and wherever possible to prevent that from impacting the candidate experience. Apologies that we let you down here, appreciate the feedback-we use it to improve on an ongoing basis. Cheers, Katie
