I applied online. I interviewed at HubSpot (Dublin, Dublin) in Feb 2025
Interview
There was a very pleasant screening call with a recruiter. Then I received an email asking me to open a Hubspot account, create a landing page and enable live chat on the page. The purpose for this was so that a Manager could perform a 40 minute role play scenario pretending to be a customer and ask questions that I would handle as a Support Agent. Then 20 minutes were supposed to be allocated to discuss the role play.
This took place on Zoom. I was asked to share the screen that I was working from to research the replies to the questions. I was also asked to keep my camera and not to mute my microphone and to feel free to express my thoughts as I worked through the process. But the Manager turned off her camera and muted her microphone!
I found this method of "evaluating" a candidate to be very unsettling as this would never happen in the real world. But that was just the beginning. Then I was asked questions that the answers were very difficult to find in the knowledge base.
Never once did the interviewer try to help or give hints. It wasn't a fair evaluation and it felt to me like the Manager had made a decision not to proceed with my application before the role play even began. The role play went over the 40 minutes and there was very little time left to discuss how it went.
I was told that I didn't ask enough questions and that I should have used Google to search for the answers! Even though I had used MS Edge Copilot when I couldn't find the answers in Hubspot's own knowledgebase!
I didn't get a chance to ask questions because the interviewer was late for her next appointment!
I gave feedback to the recruiter but I haven't heard anything back from him.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Asked if it was possible to do something on one of lots of subscriptions offered to their customers.
Then asked another question on whether it was possible to do something that wasn't possible with Hubspot.
It is a 5 step interview process, with the 1st one being a phone screening, then a video call/interactive assignment, and then finally three 30 minute back to back interviews for the 3rd and final round.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot in Apr 2026
Interview
Three rounds:
-Screening with recruiter
-Technical (live troubleshooting with a manager)
-Behavioral (3-30 minute interviews with managers)
The recruiter offers prep sessions before the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Take advantage of them as they’ll explicitly walk you through how to prepare.
Long hiring process; about 3 to 4 rounds in total. First was with HR for screening call. She was very friendly and professional. Good experience and she even gave me feedback post-interview to help me improve.
