      Interview

My interview process started with an email from the recruiter. They told me to send a 'Video Interview' through an app and that it has to be completed within 3 days. After submitting the video interview, I got another request to do a call interview. It was a Zoom Video call with the Web Dev Manager. The call consisted of questions regarding my resume, my experiences and skills. It also includes learning more about the role, the different technologies they use and the company culture. I was advanced to do the code assessment which was due within 3 days it was given to me. This assessment was a site that filters year and genres of books and movies. It included Gulp, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and etc. Unfortunately, I didn’t get pass through this step. I was told that the quality of the visual design was impeccable however they told me that I needed to improve on my javascript skills and also show work even if I got stuck on it to show how I approach issues. I’m grateful for this experience and I appreciate the feedback that I was given and will continue to improve on my skills.

      Interview

The interview process was almost comically long - I counted at least five separate appointments and totalling roughly five hours of calls, one four hour take home technical test, two live coding tests and on top of that at least one or two more interviews to go ALL BEFORE a decision would be made.

      Interview

Received interview invitation 13 days after job application. It's a 30 mins virtual interview. Asked some basic questions. The interviewer is nice but has weird standards. If you have the knowledge they required and have done it before just don't use it often, then you belong to the 'junior' level. I understand they don't know how programming works but feel like they prefer you to tell them that you use whatever they ask for on a daily basis? I didn't pass the interview, but they said after that will have a take-home project.

      Application

      Interview

Initially I applied for a Software developer position, there was a 100% match between my CV and the job requirements, but I received an email that I wasn't a right fit for the position. I assumed it might be because I hadn't put my Irish phone number in the CV. I added it and reapplied for a Web Developer. I got an email about a 30-minute phone call with a manager and I shared my availability. After a bit of delay and rescheduling, we agreed upon a time for an interview. The Zoom call was scheduled for 12 GMT, which is 13 in Dublin. It appeared odd to me that it's not scheduled in the correct time zone - both the manager and I were in Dublin, so I decided to join the call both at 12 and 13 Dublin time in case this was a mistake as the recruiter appeared very disorganized and chaotic in her emails. But nobody showed up. At 13.10 I sent an email to the recruiter that nobody's joined the call yet and asked whether I should wait or if the interviewer needs to reschedule. I waited until 13.30 when the call was supposed to end. When nobody showed up, I dropped a line in the Zoom meeting chat that I'm leaving the call and I wrote another email that unfortunately nobody had joined and that I hoped everything was okay. This time I received an automated email that she was out of the office for the day. They had my email and phone number and knew how to reach me, but nobody did. It's been two weeks since. This is the most disrespectful attitude I've seen from a company by far.

This review is definitely a tough one to read as it's a clear breakdown in our recruiting team, both from a logistics/scheduling perspective and communication, and not at all at the standard we set for our candidate experience. I'd love to make it up to you and give you a fair chance to spend some time with the hiring manager on the Web Development team, so if you're open to it please email me at beckym at hubspot dot com and I'll personally follow up to ensure this gets scheduled in a timely manner. I'm so sorry we let you down here and thank you for sharing the feedback so that we can shine some light on any problem areas and use it as a learning opportunity for all of us. Best, Becky
