The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot
Interview
I can't emphasize enough how great HubSpot were to interview for. The communication for the entire process was stellar. Everybody was really friendly and helpful. What struck me was the time HubSpot committed to giving me a sense of HubSpot as a place to work. By the time I got to the final round my decision was made. I had a great sense of the work they did and the type of people they hire.
The first step was a 30min screening call, general questions on my experience and some info on HubSpot. Next step was a 60min call with the hiring manager. We spoke more about my experience, my approach to different software problems. I got a really good overview of the team and what they work on.
The next step was a take home exercise involving creating a website from a image mockup. It was a mix of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Knowing a JavaScript framework was beneficial.
The final round was the on-site interviews. 2 non technical interviews consisting of general questions on how I would react to various problems. The interviews were laid back and more like a chat.
There were 2 technical interviews, one on JavaScript which included the JavaScript fundamentals as well as ES6. The the was HTML and CSS and involved coding up a small exercise in the interview. There was one final step where I had a video interview with a member of senior management which focused on situational questions.
HubSpot have a great approach to hiring and I'm really excited to be joining the team.
