Fairly simple interview. Met with two managers who asked about my work experience and wanted to get a feel for my personality and history. I had minimal work experience at the time of my hiring. They prefer people with open availability and good people skills.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked if I would be comfortable asking customers if I wanted to open TJX credit cards.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at HomeGoods (Port Jefferson Station, NY) in Sep 2011
Interview
At the time when I applied there were two very good managers who are no longer there. The interview process was laid back and comfortable. They asked logical questions about past employment, skills, hours available etc. At the time there was little room for salary negotiation for the initial job and the raises were nominal in the first year. Once they realized I was committed and saw my worth then the raises were a bit better, which I understand because in retail the employee turnover is so high. I was able to negotiate my salary once I became a Customer Service Coordinator.
