I applied for a Business Systems Analyst role at HCLTech and was contacted by a recruiter the next day to schedule an interview with the hiring manager. The recruiter then set up a call for the following day.
The interview itself was disappointing. The hiring manager appeared disengaged and did not turn on their camera while I was on video throughout. The conversation consisted of generic high level questions that did not feel relevant to the role or reflective of real work. The format felt like a checklist rather than a conversation, with little to no feedback or meaningful discussion.
Despite providing structured answers and trying to engage, the interview remained one sided and I was given limited opportunity to ask questions.
The recruiter joined briefly during the call, dropped off and then rejoined toward the end to close it out. The recruiter was not on camera until the end of the call and mentioned I would hear back within a couple of days. I eventually followed up multiple times before receiving an update that my profile had not yet been shortlisted.
Overall, the experience felt unorganized, impersonal and not reflective of a well run hiring process.
