Interview
After hearing all the rumors on Google's tough interview, I was expecting a taxing interview experience. Instead, the Google interview process was one of the most pleasant I had compared to my other interviews.
I had previously applied for a position with Google early last fall but did not receive any offer. I was then contacted by a Google recruiter this past July with open positions. I responded with my interest and was scheduled for a phone interview the next week.
My phone interview was extremely pleasant. He asked me basic interview questions and gave me great answers to the ones I had. I was told I would be contacted with next steps. I was then moved onto the next round which consisted of an in-person interview in Mountain View, CA. I individually interviewed with three separate Google employees, each who had been there for a varied amount of time but who had had experience with the position I was interviewing for. Once again I was pleasantly surprised on how at ease the interviewers made me feel and how fast the interviews went. There were some tricky questions, but overall they were fun. Each lasted about 30 minutes. I was told I would be contacted with next steps within the next week.
I was moved onto the final stage. Instead of another interview, however, my recruiter had to put together a "professional profile" on all my achievements, experiences, and skills. I was informed that after the profile was reviewed by the hiring committee, I would potentially be offered a job. I put together all my information, sent it to my recruiter, and then waited. After about a week, I was offered a job!
